I can say with all certainty, that this is my worst work in years. I take all the blame, I did not put much effort into it.

But really, I hate those Bratz dolls. Has America gone mad? They are trying to convince their young ladies to dress like sluts, act like 'brats', and they place a stereotype of woman that is just gross.

At least Barbie didn't dress like them, and cares for other things than 'fashion' (even if she still followed the girly stereotype, it's a healthy one!)

I've heard 'they're for teens' as excuse for the Bratz. But let's be bold: little girls are the ones who buy these things, and more often than before, I'm seeing girls from seven to eleven years in the streets, using mini-skirts and shirts that barely cover their not-yet-developed chests

And let's face it: they mess with baby toys, and they must be very wrong in the head. I approve of the cute little toys shaped as babies that you need to feed and talk to and stuff, but a baby with a ' passion for fashion'? That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I am fairly sure that kids bellow the age of ten shouldn't be pushed into the thought they need to be pretty and have a boyfriend to fullfill their lives. Teenage pregnancy, anyone?

Of course, NO ONE should have the idea that 'being pretty and having boyfriend' is the most important goal in life. Because it is not, or else just few people would be happy, and in a shallow way. We're all kinda ugly, you know? Inside or outside, we're ugly someway somewhere. Doesn't mean we can't be beautiful and happy in other ways than the physical.

BRATZ, and their overly-inflated lips and huge eyes, scare me, and just yesterday I heard my little cousin saying she got one from Santa Claus. I pray for her to just like them because she thinks they are cute or something,a nd that she does not imitate them. I hope, if I ever have a daughter, these things have died by the time she's learnt to talk and ask Santa Claus for things she'd like.

I'm ranting. I agree this is just a doll, and it's dumb to argue about it. I just want to state my thoughts in the matter. We all know that sex is a good seller, and by allowing the dolls to be only focused on clothes and boyfriends, and to have them use slutty clothes, we only allow the world to take the minds of our young children. Our young, FEMALE children.

Are we letting ourselves, the females, be turned into the 'weak gender' by allowing the world to see us as just simple-minded, shallow, sex symbols? Perhaps.

Are we letting ourselves be turned into the 'weak gender' by allowing our young girls to turn themselves into simple-minded, shallow, sex symbols? More than likely.

----

If you're a BRATZ fan, feel free to hate me. And please, do try to give a reason for hating me, not just 'I hate you' comments.

Why do you like bratz, and why should mean people like me stop flaming them? At least we have reasons, give us yours.

I saw them when they first came out.
They scared the bejessus outta me.
They were, however, in the bargain bin.
I decided that they were just some idiotic cheap knock-off of a Barbie doll, and that they would pass into obscurity along with the 'Universe Police: Laser Sword' that shared their bin.
Wishful thinking.
-sigh-

Yes, it's horifying. It's hard to believe that someone can actually find them cute or something. And thinking of fashion and boyfriend posession, thinking "I need to look pretty and have a boyfriend.": Who the fuck wants a girlfriend that's only thinking of fashion and boys? Or have such a girl as even a friend? No way!

These stereotypes are pathetic. In all of the world, everybody's yelling for human rights and that women and men should have the same rights. At the same times, we give the opposite version to our kids. How can we fight for equality but at the same time give our children all the stereotypes in the world. And why do we want our children to grow up at the age of 7?

Previously, everybody wanted to be young. If you'd ask me at the age of 7, I would've said that I never would be a grown-up, I should stay young for my life. What if you ask a seven year old today?

Girls only like Bratz because they are pretty (compare them with the creepy-smiling, cheap clothed Barbies - I had Barbie when I was a girl and their clothes suck, I was so jealous when my little sister got Bratz 'coz I knew they were way nicer than the Barbies :XD: She don't play with them anymore, but she liked them because they had nice hair, looked pretty and had nice clothes.) My mum said something about their age group being nicer for girls to play with - rather than a mumsy/princessy lady (I know I would've agreed as a young girl too) My sister never saw those Bratz dolls as being all 'dress up for your boyfriend', they never gaver her that image - they just had nice clothes :P Apparently teenagers in England buy the Bratz, and it's more of a 'friendship' thing. My brother used to play with her too (they're twins & like being together) and he played with the boys. She never made the doll have a boyfriend, and she never thought that's what the doll was there for. When it comes to the whole sexism thing, it's not the dolls I'm worried about, it's the soaps (like Hollyoaks here in England, they have sex all the time and dress way worse than the Bratz do) and my sister's started to watch that and it's worrying for me - every chance I get I find an excuse to change the channel!

The Bratz babies on the other hand, she hated them, they are so UGLY!

But if you had a daughter and she asked for one, I don't think there's anything to really worry about. My mum is one of those 'storngly against sexism' types, and she sees the Bratz dolls as having lips that are way too big, but are nicer than Barbies.

I do understand what you mean, but it's hard to get an image like that from a doll. And I saw an episode of that Bratz show thing, and a girl watched that too, they'll she it's not all about boyfriends - it's about friendship - the whole cheesy 'sticking together' thing. I dunno though, America seems much more easily offended by sex and sexism etc, unlike here... they probably have nothing like Hollyoaks (which I would envy if that's true :XD:

I do love this picture though :lmao:

Oops, I rambled on, I'm sorry ^^; it's 4:40am and I have college in 5 hours... my PC's been broke, only just had it fixed :D

...I'll shut up now...
:iconangelicbunny:
I had a friend, and he was SO sexist! he based everything he thought of women on films (apparently...) He used to talk to me like I was 3 and stare at my chest when I spoke. When I started going out with his best friend, he got SO jealous of me - if I ever went to kiss my boyfriend he'd hit him or me, and one time he asked if he could kiss him... he tried and managed to touch his tongue and was really pleased with himself, my boyfriend managed to push him off before he went further - we all thought it was a joke at first!

I think he fancied my boyfriend, but thought he had to have a wife (probably to cook, clean, give birth and have sex with...) He was such a horrible person...

He also said 'girls are confusing, if you give them something they like, they say they don't like it. If they don't like it, they say they do'. He felt so thick when everyone asked him what the hell he was on about :XD:

But yeah, just wanted to say I thought of him when I read your comment - he was NOT a nice friend to have! And he didn't care what girls thought - he woulda gone out with anyone, just as long as people thought 'he's got a girlfriend'

He's the kinda boy you wouldn't wanna go out with or be friends with... other than the type of girl you said about :XD:
:iconao-bluekitsune:
Perhaps it's because in America the dolls do have a sexist effect. (I say 'America' and mean ALL America, not United-States "America". I live in Mexico)

When I was young, I bought barbies and such because It hought they were pretty, and it was fun to dres them up even if they had bad clothes. >< But still, I didn't have a desire to dress teen-like at eight years old. I see little girls (age from nine to thirteen, sometimes younger) walking on the streets with mini-skirts and tank-tops, walking like they were some divas. And I don't mind such outfit when I see it in summer -- it gets really hot, and those clothes DO seem fresh, so why not use them? But they wear them even when it's fresh or even a bit cold. My paranoid mind thinks they mean something.

If they wanted to really say it's all about 'friendship', then they should at least have a girl among them that uses normal, or dull, clothing. But all of them have the ';passion for fashion', which seems to be the only thing that keeps them together seeing they're all too different (I mean in the movie, because all the dolls look the same in commercials.... yes, I watched the movie. My father bought it for a niece and we watched it before giving it over, and laughed our asses off for the dumbness of it).
